Pause, ask what they need, and then respond to that need

Decide in advance and ask only if your plan fails

Keep moving and assume they will find help elsewhere

Offer advice right away so there is no awkward silence

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I need your mercy. I have gone my own way and cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Please hear me, help me, and lead my life. Amen.

Lord, I Need Your Help

Lord, revive your church so we do not rush past hurting people. Give us the habit of pausing, drawing near, and asking real questions. Make us compassionate listeners whose care points others to you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Teach Your Church to Stop and Listen

Lord, thank you that Jesus stops and pays attention. Thank you that he listens before he responds. Teach me to trust your care today, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for Drawing Near

Pray by naming one person you want to help, then ask God for the patience to pause, listen, and ask what they need before you offer a solution.

Pray Before You Answer

Bring these to God: a hurried heart; the habit of assuming instead of asking; courage to hear another person's need; willingness to slow down and respond with compassion.

A Listening Heart

Lord, I pray for someone who feels overlooked or unheard. Help me notice them, ask with kindness, and respond in a way that truly serves their need, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
