They exploit widows by taking advantage of their houses

They use long prayers as public performance

They will receive a lighter verdict because of their status

Pray sincerely and care for vulnerable people

Make your faith more visible so people admire it

Keep religious words, even if your actions stay unfair

Focus only on private devotion and ignore injustice

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit my sin and my need for your mercy. I have often cared more about appearance than truth, and I have not loved others as I should. I turn from hypocrisy and from every wrong path. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as my Lord, and I ask you to make me clean and new. Amen.

Come to Jesus in Honesty

Lord, revive your Church where we have loved being seen more than being faithful. Strip away empty performance, make our prayers honest, and teach us to defend the vulnerable instead of using them. Give us clean hearts and just hands, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Wake Your Church to Truth and Mercy

Father, I confess that I have sometimes wanted the appearance of devotion without the cost of obedience. Forgive me for every time I have prayed to be noticed or ignored the needs of others. Purify my motives and make my life match my words, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Clean Hands, Honest Words

Pray for widows, the poor, and anyone whose trust has been abused: that God would protect them, expose injustice, and raise up wise people to help them.

Before you pray, pause and name one motive you want God to search. Ask him to uncover anything done for display, then pray for one vulnerable person or situation you have noticed today.

Thank God that he sees through every mask, hears sincere prayer, and cares about the people others overlook. Praise him for his justice and his mercy, and ask him to teach you his ways.
