People should keep using the title Rabbi to show honor

Each believer needs a different spiritual superior

Treat fellow believers as family and refuse to chase special rank

Keep the title if it helps everyone know who is in charge

Be humble in private, but keep status markers when serving publicly

Let only the most respected people do the teaching

Receive the One Teacher

Father, revive your Church. Tear down pride, competition, and the hunger for titles. Make us glad to learn under one Teacher, quick to listen, and eager to serve one another as brothers and sisters. Let our unity point the world to Jesus, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church in Humility

Thank God for Jesus as the one Teacher, for freedom from competing for status, and for the gift of belonging to a spiritual family.

Give Thanks for the One Teacher

Pray by naming one place where you want recognition, ask God to quiet that desire, and ask him to help you learn gladly from Christ and honor other believers as family.

Ask for a Humble Heart

Pray for congregations where people compete for influence; for leaders to serve with humility; and for believers to treat one another as brothers and sisters under one Teacher.

For Churches Without Rank Seeking

Father, when I reach for status or want to be noticed, remind me that you have given me one Teacher and one family. Teach me to listen, serve, and walk humbly with your people, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
