Protect their dignity and refuse to join the ridicule.

Stay neutral so you avoid getting pulled in.

Laugh along a little, then be kind later.

Assume the shame is deserved if the person has made mistakes.

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit my sin and the shame I carry. I turn from my sin and believe you died for me and rose again. Thank you for bearing humiliation for me. Be my Lord and Savior, cover me with your mercy, and lead me from shame into life with you. Amen.

Receive the One Who Bore Shame

Lord, revive your Church so we do not add to the shame of the hurting. Make us gentle where we have been harsh, brave where we have been silent, and quick to honor the dignity of others. Teach us to reflect the humility and compassion of your Son, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew a Compassionate Church

Father, for anyone stripped of dignity, exposed, or mocked today, draw near with your peace. Cover them with your care, steady their heart, and remind them that you see what others have missed, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

For Those Who Have Been Shamed

Bring before God any way you have joined ridicule, stayed silent when someone was shamed, or treated another person's pain lightly. Ask for mercy, a softer heart, and a fresh resolve to defend the dignity of others.

Turning From Mockery

Pray by naming one situation where people are likely to be embarrassed, asking God for courage to stop it, and asking him to make your words protective and kind.

Pray for a Gentle Tongue

Pray for one person you know who is being embarrassed or belittled, for wise friends to stand with them, and for those causing the harm to be changed in heart.

For Someone Under Mockery
