Those who have proved themselves spiritually strong

Their spiritual need is part of the point

Earthly wealth is what secures the blessing

Coming to God honestly, without pretending to be enough

Trying to look weak so others will think you're humble

Working harder to earn God's favor through performance

Waiting until you feel strong enough before you pray

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and tried to live as if I did not need you. I turn from my sin and my self-reliance. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord, and I ask you to bring me into your kingdom and make me new. Amen.

Come to Jesus in Need

Lord, revive your Church with a humble spirit. Where we have trusted our strength, our status, or our performance, bring repentance and a fresh awareness of our need for you. Make us a people who depend on you with open hands, and let the hope of your kingdom shape our life together, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your Church in Humility

Father, forgive me for the ways I hide my need and pretend to be enough. I lay down pride, self-importance, and the urge to impress. Teach me to come to you honestly and to rest in your grace, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Turn Me from Self-Reliance

Thank God that he blesses people who come to him empty-handed. Thank him that his kingdom is not reserved for the self-sufficient, but is given in grace to those who know their need.

Thankful for Grace to the Needy

Pray by naming one area where you have been self-reliant, then ask God to make you honest, humble, and ready to depend on him. Bring that place of need to him without disguising it.

Pray for Humble Dependence

Pray for people who feel spiritually empty, ashamed, or far from God, that they would discover his welcome and hope. Ask the Lord to show them that his kingdom belongs to those who come with need.

For Those Who Feel Unworthy
