Lord, revive your Church with fresh awe for the words of Jesus. Where we have grown casual, make us humble; where we have grown dull, make us alert; where we have grown self-assured, make us teachable. Let your people be amazed again at his teaching, and let that wonder spill out into a listening world, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank God for the clarity and authority of Jesus' teaching; for words that can still astonish, correct, and comfort; and for the gift of hearing him at all.
