Exegesis

The verse presents parallel prohibitions introduced by velo tissa'u {וְלֹֽא־תִשְׂא֤וּ | wə-lō-tis-sʾāʾū} ‘and you shall not bear’ and velo tamutu {וְלֹ֥א תָמֽוּתוּ | wə-lō-tā-mū-tū} ‘and you shall not die’.
