Proverbs 8:3ExegesisTAB

Proverbs 8 : 3 Wisdom | Proclamation | Invitation
3. Linguistic Exegesis
The verse presents a succession of spatial phrases beginning with le-yad {לְיַד־ | lə-yad} ‘by’ and le-fi {לְפִי־ | lə-pî} ‘at the mouth of’ linked to she'arim {שְׁעָרִים | šə-‘ā-rîm} ‘gates’ and karet {קָרֶת | qā-ret} ‘city’, establishing communal boundaries. The construct noun mevo {מְב֖וֹא | mə-bōʾ} ‘entrance’ and the plural petachim {פְתָחִים | pə-ṭā-ḥîm} ‘doorways’ then widen the setting to include all access points. The final verb taronnah {תָּרֹנָּה | ṭā-rōn-nāh} in Qal imperfect, third feminine plural, conveys repeated, emphatic calling. English renders the series as grouped locations for clarity while preserving the progression from gates to doorways.
