The verse opens with the spatial prepositional phrase en mesō tēs plateías autēs {ἐν μέσῳ τῆς πλατείας αὐτῆς | en mésō tês plateías autês} “in the middle of its broad avenue,” immediately followed by the parallel location kai tou potamoû enteúthen kai ekeîthen {καὶ τοῦ ποταμοῦ ἐντεῦθεν καὶ ἐκεῖθεν | kaí toû potamoû en-teû-then kaí e-keî-then} “and along the river on both sides,” which together establish a comprehensive setting.
