The verse opens with a protasis introduced by veim {וְאִם־ | wə-’im} ‘and if’, presenting mishpachat mitzrayim {מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת מִצְרַ֧יִם | miš-pa-ḥat miṣ-rā-yim} ‘family of Egypt’.
