10. Formal Translation For before those days there was no wage for man, nor any wage for the beast; nor was there any safety for anyone going out or coming in because of the adversary, for I {Yahweh, Executor of Judgment} set every man against his neighbor. |
10. Dynamic Translation In earlier times people had no wages and animals received none; anyone traveling out or coming in had no safety from their foe, since I {Yahweh, Righteous Judge} turned each person against his neighbor. |
