Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Zephaniah 1:12:1 ⧉וְהָיָה֙vehayaand it will be Zephaniah 1:12:2 ⧉בָּעֵ֣תbaetat the time of Zephaniah 1:12:3 ⧉הַהִ֔יאhahithat Zephaniah 1:12:4 ⧉אֲחַפֵּ֥שׂakhapesI will search Zephaniah 1:12:5 ⧉אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִםetyerushalimJerusalem Zephaniah 1:12:6 ⧉בַּנֵּר֑וֹתbanerotwith the lamps Zephaniah 1:12:7 ⧉וּפָקַדְתִּ֣יufakadtiand I will punish Zephaniah 1:12:8 ⧉עַל־הָאֲנָשִׁ֗יםalhaanashimupon the men Zephaniah 1:12:9 ⧉הַקֹּֽפְאִים֙hakofeimthe ones who are thickening or stagnant Zephaniah 1:12:10 ⧉עַל־שִׁמְרֵיהֶ֔םalshimrehemupon their dregs Zephaniah 1:12:11 ⧉הָאֹֽמְרִים֙haomrimthe ones saying Zephaniah 1:12:12 ⧉בִּלְבָבָ֔םbilvevavamin their heart Zephaniah 1:12:13 ⧉לֹֽא־יֵיטִ֥יבloyetivhe will not do good Zephaniah 1:12:14 ⧉יְהוָ֖הyahwehthe LORD Zephaniah 1:12:15 ⧉וְלֹ֥אveloand not Zephaniah 1:12:16 ⧉יָרֵֽעַ׃yareahe will do evil |
12. Formal Translation And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are stagnant on their dregs, those who say in their heart, “The LORD {Yahweh, Righteous Judge} will not do good nor will He do evil.” |
12. Dynamic Translation At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are settled on their dregs; they say to themselves, “The LORD {Yahweh, Active Overseer} will neither help nor harm us.” |
