8. Formal Translation The one who practices sin is from the devil, because from the beginning the devil has been sinning. For this reason the Son of God {huios tou theou, Manifested Destroyer} was revealed, in order that He might destroy the works of the devil. |
8. Dynamic Translation Whoever keeps on sinning belongs to the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the very beginning. This is why the Son of God {huios tou theou, Missioned Rescuer} appeared, so that He might destroy the devil’s works. |
