1 Kings 20:42:2אֵלָ֗יוelavto him 1 Kings 20:42:3כֹּ֚הkothus 1 Kings 20:42:4אָמַ֣רamarsaid 1 Kings 20:42:5יְהוָ֔הyahwehLORD 1 Kings 20:42:6יַ֛עַןyaanbecause 1 Kings 20:42:7שִׁלַּ֥חְתָּshillakhtayou sent away or let go 1 Kings 20:42:8אֶת־אִישׁ־חֶרְמִ֖יetishikhermithe man of my devoted-thing or my ban 1 Kings 20:42:9מִיָּ֑דmiyadfrom {the} hand 1 Kings 20:42:10וְהָיְתָ֤הvehayetaand it will be 1 Kings 20:42:11נַפְשְׁךָ֙nafeshekhayour life 1 Kings 20:42:12תַּ֣חַתtakhatinstead of or under 1 Kings 20:42:13נַפְשׁ֔וֹnafshohis life 1 Kings 20:42:14וְעַמְּךָ֖veammekhaand your people 1 Kings 20:42:15תַּ֥חַתtakhatinstead of or under 1 Kings 20:42:16עַמּֽוֹ׃amohis people
42. Formal Translation
And he said to him, “Thus says the LORD {Yahweh, Just Arbiter}: Because you have released the man I had devoted to destruction from your hand, your life shall go in place of his life, and your people in place of his people.”
42. Dynamic Translation
He told him, “This is what the LORD {Yahweh, Ultimate Arbiter} says: Because you freed the man I had set apart for destruction, your life will pay for his life, and your people will pay for his people.”
