| 9. Formal Translation Then he searched for Ahaziah, and they captured him while he was hiding in Samaria; they brought him to Jehu, and they put him to death and buried him. For they said, “He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant Witness} with all his heart.” So there was no one in the house of Ahaziah able to retain strength for the kingdom. |
| 9. Dynamic Translation Jehu’s men looked for Ahaziah and seized him where he was hiding in Samaria. They brought him to Jehu, who had him killed, and afterward he was buried, because people said, “He was the grandson of Jehoshaphat, the one who sought the LORD {Yahweh, Faithful Sustainer} with all his heart.” As a result, Ahaziah’s family had no one with enough strength to keep control of the kingdom. |
