וַיְהִ֣י{va-ye-HI###vah-yeh-HEE###and it happened} לִתְקוּפַ֣ת{lit-ku-FAT###liht-koo-FAT###at the turning or cycle of} הַשָּׁנָ֗ה{ha-sha-NA###hah-shaa-NAA###the year} עָלָ֣ה{a-LA###aa-LAA###went up} עָלָיו֮{a-LAV###aa-LAAV###against him} חֵ֣יל{KHEIL###KHEIL###an army or force} אֲרָם֒{a-RAM###ah-RAAM###Aram or Syria} וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ{va-ya-BO-u###vah-yaa-BOH-oo###and they came} אֶל־יְהוּדָה֙{el-ye-hu-DA###ehl-yeh-hoo-DAA###to Judah} וִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם{vi-ru-sha-LA-im###vih-roo-shaa-LA-ihm###and Jerusalem} וַיַּשְׁחִ֛יתוּ{va-yash-KHI-tu###vah-yahsh-KHEE-too###and they destroyed} אֶת־כָּל־שָׂרֵ֥י{et-kol-sa-REI###eet-kohl-sah-REE###(direct object) all the leaders of} הָעָ֖ם{ha-AM###haa-AAM###the people} מֵעָ֑ם{me-AM###mee-AAM###from among the people} וְכָל־שְׁלָלָ֥ם{ve-khol-she-la-LAM###veh-khol-sheh-la-LAAM###and all their spoil} שִׁלְּח֖וּ{shil-LE-KHU###shihl-LEH-khoo###they sent} לְמֶ֥לֶךְ{le-ME-lekh###leh-MEH-lehkh###to the king of} דַּרְמָֽשֶׂק׃{dar-ma-SEK###dahr-mah-SEHK###Damascus}
