The sequence of vav-consecutives wayyaḥarǵûhû, wayyāmōt, wayyiqbərûhû {וַיַּהַרְגֻהוּ וַיָּמֹת וַיִּקְבְּרֻהוּ | way-ya-ḥar-gû-hu, way-yā-mōt, way-yi-qə-bə-rû-hu} ‘and they killed him, and he died, and they buried him’ drives the narrative.
