| 14. Formal Translation And after this, he erected an outer wall around the City of David, extending westward toward the Gihon spring in the valley and up to the entrance of the Fish Gate; he then encompassed the Ophel and raised it to a great height, and he installed commanders of war in every fortified city in Judah. |
| 14. Dynamic Translation Afterward, he bolstered Jerusalem’s defenses by constructing an outer wall for the City of David on its western side, stretching from the Gihon spring in the valley to the Fish Gate entrance. He then enclosed the Ophel and significantly increased its height, and he appointed commanders over every fortified town in Judah. |
