4. Formal Translation For out of much affliction and distress of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not so that you might be grieved, but so that you might know the love which I have more abundantly toward you. |
4. Dynamic Translation I wrote to you out of deep trouble and heartache, and with many tears—not to make you sad, but so you would understand the overflowing love I have for you. |
