12. Formal Translation Thus says the LORD {Yahweh, Covenant Judge}: Just as the shepherd rescues from the mouth of the lion two legs or a fragment of an ear, so the sons of Israel dwelling in Samaria will be rescued—in the corner of a bed and in Damascus on a couch. |
12. Dynamic Translation This is what the LORD {Yahweh, Righteous Ruler} declares: Like a shepherd who manages to pull out only two legs or a scrap from a lion’s mouth, so the Israelites living in Samaria will be rescued—only with a bed’s corner and with a couch in Damascus. |
