In the first clause the simile kivnei kushiyyim {כִבְנֵי֩ כֻשִׁיִּ֨ים | kiḇ-nê kušiyyîm} ‘like the Cushites’ precedes the evaluative small clause ʾat-tem lī {אַתֶּ֥ם לִ֛י | ʾat-tem lî} ‘you are to me,’ and culminates in the identification bnei yiśrāʾēl {בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל | bə-nê yiś-rā-ʾēl} ‘children of Israel,’ subverting Israel’s assumed uniqueness.
