Some objects from God's sanctuary were taken along.

They were stored in the treasury belonging to his god.

Jehoiakim was immediately restored to rule in Judah.

The vessels were returned to Jerusalem at once.

Trust that the Lord still rules, even in loss

Treat what belongs to God as ordinary and replaceable

Try to force every outcome by your own strength

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and lived apart from you. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Turn me from my sin, forgive me, and make me yours. I confess you as my Lord and trust you to lead me out of exile into your kingdom. Amen.

Bring Me Back to You

Father, revive your church where we have become careless with what is holy. Teach us to trust your rule when we feel surrounded by stronger powers, and make us faithful with everything you have entrusted to us. Wake us up with humility, reverence, and steady trust, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Reverence in Your People

Name the place where you feel out of control, ask God to remain sovereign there, and ask for one obedient step you can take without grasping for control.

Pray Through a Handed-Over Season

Bring these to God: gratitude that no king outranks him; thanks that he remains present when things feel taken away; praise that what belongs to him is never lost to him.

Thanksgiving for God's Rule

Lord, protect your people from treating what belongs to you as common. Make us careful with our time, resources, worship, and responsibilities, and keep us steady when we are under pressure, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Keep Us Faithful with What Is Yours

Pray for people who feel uprooted, for families living with loss, and for peace that holds when cherished things are carried away. Ask God to meet them with trust, grief, and hope together.

Peace for the Displaced
