The response is described as widespread among many peoples

Several instruments and kinds of music are part of the scene

Nebuchadnezzar is the one who set up the statue

The people kept standing rather than lowering themselves

Only one small group is mentioned as hearing the sound

Join in because belonging to the crowd matters most

Wait and stay neutral, but make no clear commitment

Refuse ultimate honor to what is made and keep your worship for God

Honor it outwardly now and sort out your heart later

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have bowed to things that cannot save me. I have sinned, and I need your mercy. I turn from my sin and ask you to forgive me. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as Lord, and I ask you to lead my life. Amen.

Turn From False Worship

Lord, revive your Church when we are tempted to move with the crowd and honor what is made. Wake up our worship, clear away our love of approval, and give us courage to honor you alone, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Our Worship

Father, forgive me for the times I have followed the crowd more than your voice. I confess that I have valued approval, success, and visible power above you. Turn my heart back to true worship, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

When I Follow the Crowd

Pray like this: name one situation where a group is pulling you in the same direction, ask God to show you what is being honored there, and ask for the courage to choose loyalty to him over easy agreement.

Pray for Discernment Before You Join In

Pray for people and communities shaped by pressure to honor what is human-made. Ask God to open their eyes, free them from fear of the crowd, and draw them into true worship.

For People Pressured by Empty Honor

Thank God that he is not a crafted image and not limited by human approval. Praise him that he is worthy of worship and that he can call people back from empty loyalties.

Thank God for Worthy Worship
