18. Formal Translation Incline your ear, my God {Elohai, Prayer Hearer}, and hear; open your eyes and see our desolations and the city which is called by your name {name: shimkha, reputation} because we do not present our supplications before You on account of our righteousness, but because of Your great mercies. |
18. Dynamic Translation My God {Elohai, Compassionate Listener}, please turn Your ear and listen; open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city that bears Your name, for we do not bring our requests to You because of our righteousness, but because of Your abundant mercy. |
