5. Formal Translation Every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, starting with Pharaoh’s firstborn who sits on his throne, and continuing to the firstborn of the female slave who stands behind the millstones, and including also the firstborn of the cattle. |
5. Dynamic Translation All the firstborn in Egypt will die, from Pharaoh’s firstborn heir on the throne to the firstborn of the servant woman working at the millstones, and even the firstborn among the livestock will die. |
