Exodus 11TAB

Then the LORD {YHWH, Judging Deliverer} said to Moses, “I will still bring one more plague {nega: striking blow} on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will release you from this place; and when he releases you, he will indeed force you out completely from here.”

Speak {dabber: earnest request} in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask his neighbor and every woman ask her neighbor for articles of silver {kesef: precious metal} and articles of gold.

And the LORD {YHWH, Disposer of Hearts} caused the people to receive favor {khen: gracious acceptance} in the eyes of the Egyptians; and Moses was considered exceedingly great in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of Pharaoh’s servants and also in the eyes of the people.

And Moses said, “Thus says the LORD {YHWH, Supreme Judge}: Near midnight I will go out {yotse: imminent departure} through the midst of Egypt.”

Every firstborn {bekhor: foremost offspring} in the land of Egypt shall die, starting with Pharaoh’s firstborn who sits on his throne, and continuing to the firstborn of the female slave who stands behind the millstones, and including also the firstborn of the cattle {behemah: domesticated animals}.

And a great cry {tse‘akah: outcry of distress} will rise throughout all the land of Egypt, unmatched by anything before it, and never to be repeated again {tosif: recurrence}.

But among all the sons of Israel no dog will sharpen its tongue against man or beast, so that you may know that the LORD {YHWH, Distinction Maker} distinguishes {yafleh: sets apart} between Egypt and Israel.

And all these servants of yours will come down to me and bow down to me, saying, “Go out, you and all the people at your feet {braglekha: those accompanying you}.” After that I will go out. And Moses went out from Pharaoh in burning anger {bachoriaf: intense wrath}.

And the LORD {YHWH, Avenging Judge} said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that my wonders {moftai: miraculous signs} will increase in the land of Egypt.”

And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Actor} strengthened Pharaoh’s heart {lev: inner resolve}, and he did not send out the sons of Israel from his land.
