| 3. Formal Translation The spirit of Egypt will be emptied in its midst, and I {Yahweh, Sovereign Judge} will swallow up its counsel; they will seek to the idols, to the charmers, to the spirits of the dead, and to the wizards. |
| 3. Dynamic Translation Egypt’s spirit will be drained from within, and I {Yahweh, Justice Enforcer} will make its counsel vanish; they will turn to idols, to spell-casters, to mediums, and to spiritists. |
