Source Text: Hebrew (WLC) Isaiah 6:11:1 ⧉וָאֹמַ֕רvaomarand I said Isaiah 6:11:2 ⧉עַד־מָתַ֖יadmataiuntil when Isaiah 6:11:3 ⧉אֲדֹנָ֑יadonaiLord Isaiah 6:11:4 ⧉וַיֹּ֡אמֶרvayomerand he said Isaiah 6:11:5 ⧉עַ֣דaduntil Isaiah 6:11:6 ⧉אֲשֶׁר֩asherthat or when Isaiah 6:11:7 ⧉אִם־שָׁא֨וּimshauif or surely they are devastated Isaiah 6:11:8 ⧉עָרִ֜יםarimcities Isaiah 6:11:9 ⧉מֵאֵ֣יןmeenfrom there being no Isaiah 6:11:10 ⧉יוֹשֵׁ֗בyoshevinhabitant or one dwelling Isaiah 6:11:11 ⧉וּבָתִּים֙uvatimand houses Isaiah 6:11:12 ⧉מֵאֵ֣יןmeenfrom there being no Isaiah 6:11:13 ⧉אָדָ֔םadamhuman or man Isaiah 6:11:14 ⧉וְהָאֲדָמָ֖הvehaadamaand the ground Isaiah 6:11:15 ⧉תִּשָּׁאֶ֥הtishshaeis laid waste or is desolated Isaiah 6:11:16 ⧉שְׁמָמָֽה׃shemamadesolation |
11. Formal Translation Then I said, “How long, Lord {Adonai, Sovereign Ruler}?” And He said, “Until the cities are devastated with no inhabitant, the houses are empty of people, and the land is made utterly desolate.” |
11. Dynamic Translation So I asked, “Lord {Adonai, Master of all}, how long will this last?” He answered, “Until towns stand deserted, the houses lie empty, and the land becomes a wasteland.” |
