Stand up and shine, for your light {orekh: personal radiance} has arrived; the glory of the LORD {YHWH, Radiant Sovereign} has dawned over you.
Look—darkness will blanket the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD {YHWH, Light Giver} will rise over you, and His glory {kavod: radiant presence} will be visible upon you.
Nations {goyim: all Gentile peoples} will walk by your light, and kings by the brilliance of your dawn {zarkhekh: radiant dawn}.
Raise your eyes {einayikh: inner perception} and survey all around: they are all gathering and coming to you; your sons will arrive from afar, and your daughters will be carried at your side {tzad: close proximity}.
Then you will look and glow {nahart: shining with joy}; your heart will tremble and grow wide, because the abundance {hamon: great quantity} of the sea will be turned to you, and the wealth of the nations will come to you.
A multitude of camels will cover you—young camels from Midian and Ephah; all of them will arrive from Sheba {Sheba: Arabian trading region}. They will bring gold and incense, and they will bring glad news: the praises of the LORD {YHWH, Sovereign Praise Recipient}.
All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered to you; the rams of Nebaioth will serve you. They will ascend and be accepted on My altar, and I {YHWH, Glorious Lord} will adorn the house of My splendor {tifarti: radiant beauty}.
Who are these, moving like a cloud {av: swirling formation}, and like doves to their windows {arubot: lattice openings}?
The coastlands will look to Me with hope, and the ships of Tarshish will arrive first, bringing your sons from afar—bringing their silver and gold with them—for the name of the LORD your God {YHWH Elohayikh, Covenant Defender} and for the Holy One of Israel {Qedosh Yisraʾel, National Sanctifier}, because He has glorified you.
Foreigners’ sons will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you; for in my wrath {ketzef: divine anger} I {YHWH, Discipline Enforcer} struck you, but in my favor I have shown compassion on you.
Your gates {she’arayikh: fortified portals} will be kept open constantly; neither by day nor by night will they be shut, so that the wealth {cheil: resources or armies} of the nations may be brought to you, with their kings led in.
Any nation or kingdom that does not serve you {ya’avducha: covenant obligation} will perish; those nations will lie in utter desolation {charov: complete ruin}.
The glory of Lebanon will be brought to you—the fir tree, the pine, and the box all together—to adorn the place of My sanctuary {YHWH, Dwelling Presence}, and I will honor the place of My feet {akhabbed: show high distinction}.
The sons of your afflicters will come to you bowed down, and all who despised you will kneel at the soles of your feet. They will call you the City of the LORD {YHWH, Restored Sovereign}, the Zion of the Holy One {kedosh: Wholly Set Apart} of Israel.
Instead of your being forsaken {azuvah: left abandoned} and hated, with no one traveling through, I {YHWH, Restorer} will make you an everlasting honor, a joy from generation to generation.
You will draw the milk {chalev: abundant provision} from nations and suck the breast of kings; then you will know that I, the LORD {YHWH, Delivering Sovereign}, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
Instead of bronze, I {YHWH, Restoring Redeemer} will bring gold; instead of iron, I will bring silver; instead of wood, bronze; and instead of stones, iron. I will appoint your overseers as peace {shalom: complete harmony}, and your taskmasters as righteousness.
Violence {hamas: oppressive wrongdoing} will no longer be heard in your land, nor devastation and destruction {shever: complete ruin} within your borders; but you will name your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.
The sun will no longer serve you as light by day, nor will the moon give you brightness; but the LORD {YHWH, Everlasting Light-Giver} will be your everlasting light, and your God {Elohim, Glory Bestower} will be your glory.
Your sun will not set again, and your moon will not withdraw itself; for the LORD {YHWH, Unfading Radiance} will be for you an everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be completed {shalmu: brought to a full end}.
All your people will be righteous and will inherit the land forever: the branch of My {YHWH, Redeemer Planter} planting, the work of My hands, so that I may be glorified {lehitpa‘er: honored}.
The smallest will become a thousand, and the weak one a mighty nation; I, the LORD {YHWH, Promise-Keeper}, will bring it quickly {achishennah: swift fulfillment} when its time comes.
