A place with no personal connection to him

He came because his own people had first welcomed him

Welcome him and respond to him with openness

Keep him at a distance until he proves useful

Show polite interest without letting him shape you

Give him honor only in theory, not in practice

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I confess that I have not welcomed you as I should. I admit my sin and my need for your mercy. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and receive you as my Lord and Savior. Come into my life, and teach me to welcome you with all my heart. Amen.

Receive the One Who Came

Father, wake up your Church where we have grown familiar with Jesus yet slow to receive him. Give us repentance, reverence, and joy. Make us quick to welcome your Son, and let our lives show the honor we owe him, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

A Church That Welcomes Christ

Bring to God: gratitude that Jesus still came to what was his own; praise that rejection did not keep him away; thanksgiving for his steady love toward people who were not ready to receive him.

Thank You for Coming Anyway

Pray by naming one place where you resist or delay Jesus, then ask God to make you open and willing. End by asking for one concrete step that would show welcome today.

Pray for a Receptive Heart

Pray for friends, family, neighbors, and whole communities that know about Jesus but have not received him. Ask God to soften hearts, clear away indifference, and open room for faith.

For Those Who Have Not Welcomed Him

Lord, when I feel overlooked or rejected, remind me that you also were not received by your own people. Keep me close to you, steady my heart, and help me keep welcoming you even when others do not, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
