Many people have fully seen God face to face

Only prophets were able to see God clearly

He is portrayed as being in the Father's closest place

He is described as already visible to everyone

Look to Jesus first when you want to know what God is like

Build your picture of God mainly from your own instincts and feelings

Treat God as distant and avoid thinking much about him

Assume any spiritual idea about God is just as good as what Jesus shows

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and tried to know God on my own. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for me and rose again. I believe you are Lord, and I ask you to bring me to the Father and make him known to me. Lead my life from this day forward. Amen.

Receive the One Who Makes God Known

Lord, revive your Church with a fresh vision of Jesus. Where we have spoken of you as distant or unclear, make us people who show your heart plainly. Let our worship, words, and lives point others to the Father through the Son, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your Church to Reveal You

Bring these to God: gratitude that he has not stayed hidden; thankfulness for the Son who reveals the Father's heart; praise that the living God can be truly known; joy that faith can rest in what Christ has shown.

Thank You for Making Yourself Known

Pray by naming one place where God feels distant, asking Jesus to show you the Father's heart there, and asking for one concrete step to respond in trust today.

Ask Jesus to Show You the Father

Pray for someone who thinks God is far away, that they would meet Jesus clearly; pray for gentle and truthful words when you speak about God; pray that your life would point beyond yourself to the Father.

For Those Who Feel God Is Distant

Lord, when I am confused about who you are, keep me close to Jesus. Let his words correct my ideas, his mercy soften my heart, and his cross teach me your love, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Let Jesus Shape My Understanding
