Come near in humility and tell Jesus the truth about the loss

Wait until the hurt is gone before praying about it

Hide the grief so no one sees how deep it is

Explain the loss first and only then bring the pain to God

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I come to you with my sin, my sorrow, and my need. I admit that I have sinned and cannot save myself. I turn from my sin and trust that you died for me and rose again. I believe you are Lord, and I give my life to you. Meet me in my grief, forgive me, and lead me in your way. Amen.

Come to Jesus in My Need

Lord, revive your Church where we have become hurried, distant, or numb to sorrow. Give us Mary's readiness to come near, to kneel, and to speak honestly before you. Teach us to grieve with the grieving, to listen with tenderness, and to bring hurting people into your presence. Awaken us with compassion, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Your Church with Compassion

Father, when I come to you carrying something I cannot change, help me bring it honestly to Jesus. Let your presence steady my heart, and let my grief be held by your care. Keep me from pretending, and give me grace to keep coming to you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Comfort Me in What I Cannot Fix

Start by naming the person, loss, or disappointment plainly. Tell Jesus what hurts, what you wish had been different, and ask him to meet you there with his mercy.

Pray Honest Words

Pray for: a grieving person you know; the grace to draw near instead of withdrawing; and the courage to speak hope without dismissing their pain.

For Someone Carrying Grief

Bring these to God: a willingness to kneel before Jesus in sorrow; honesty instead of polished words; trust when you do not understand; and the courage to stay near him while you wait.
