Receive his washing and trust what he says about belonging

Refuse until you feel worthy enough to deserve it

Accept the help but treat it as separate from belonging

Keep control by deciding what kind of cleansing is allowed

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and cannot make myself clean. I turn from my sin and from living for myself. I believe you died for me and rose again. Please wash me, forgive me, and make me yours. I confess you as Lord, and I want to belong to you. Amen.

Wash Me, Lord Jesus

Lord, revive your Church where we resist your cleansing and cling to our pride. Make us humble enough to receive your correction, quick to repent, and glad to belong to you. Let our life together show the beauty of grace that washes and restores, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew a Humble Church

Begin by naming one place where you feel defensive about Jesus' help. Ask him to wash that place, then pause long enough to receive his word before you move on.

Pray Through Your Resistance

Thank you for Jesus, who does not leave us in our uncleanness but offers a cleansing that brings us near. Thank you that belonging to him is a gift of grace, not a reward for performance.

Thank You for Grace That Cleanses and Keeps

We confess our pride, our fear of being exposed, and our habit of insisting on control when you want to wash us. Forgive us for resisting the grace that comes from your hands.

Confessing Self-Protection

Father, I lift up someone who is guarded, ashamed, or unwilling to receive help. Softly break through their resistance, show them Jesus' cleansing love, and draw them into the joy of belonging to him, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
