Exegesis

The clause hoti poreuomai hetoimasai topon hymin {ὅτι πορεύομαι ἑτοιμάσαι τόπον ὑμῖν | hóti poreúomai hetoimásai tópon hymin} is best read as the content of what Jesus would have told them, not as a causal explanation; syntactically, poreuomai {πορεύομαι | poreúomai} ‘I am going’ is oriented toward the purpose infinitive hetoimasai {ἑτοιμάσαι | hetoimásai} ‘to prepare,’ so the movement itself carries forward-looking intent. The translation therefore preserves the reassurance, the abundance, and the purpose-driven motion without adding a causal “because” that the Greek does not require.
