Do not permit your heart to become disturbed. Trust in God {Theos, Faithful One}, and trust in Me {Iesous, Trustworthy One} as well.
In My Father’s {pater, Welcoming Provider} house there are many dwelling places {monai: enduring homes}; if that were not the case, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I {ego: The Speaker} go and prepare a place {topos: Prepared Dwelling} for you, I am returning and will bring you to Myself, so that you also may be where I am.
And you know the path {hodon: access route} to the place I am heading {hypago: am departing}.
Thomas spoke to Him, “Lord {Kyrios, Steadfast Guide}, we do not know where You are going; how are we able to know the way {hodos: route ahead}?”
Jesus {Iesous, Sole Mediator} said to him, "I am the path, the truth, and the life; no one reaches the Father {pater, Receiving Father} except through Me."
If you had known Me {Iesous, Revealing Son}, you would have known My Father {Pater, Known Through Son} as well. From this moment onward, you already know Him, and you have seen Him.
Philip said to Him, “Lord {Kyrios, Revealing Master}, show us the Father {patera, Longed-For One}, and it is sufficient for us.”
Jesus {Iesous, Father-Revealing Son} said to him, "Have I been with you all this long, and you have not come to know Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father {pater, Manifested Source}. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?"
Do you not believe that I am in the Father {Pater, Indwelling Source} and the Father is in Me? The words {rhemata: spoken utterances} I tell you, I do not speak from Myself; but the Father who remains in Me does His works.
Believe Me {Iesous, Faithful Witness} that I am in the Father {Pater, Mutual Indwelling} and the Father is in Me. But if not, then believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I {Iesous, Solemn Promise Speaker} say to you, the one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do, and he will do greater works than these, because I am going toward the Father {Pater, Heavenly Source}.
And whatever you may ask in My name, this I will accomplish, so that the Father {pater, Glory Receiving Father} may be glorified in the Son {huios, Glory Bearing Son}.
If you ask Me {Iesous, Gracious Answerer} for anything in My name {onomati: delegated authority}, I will carry it out.
If you love Me {Iesous, Covenant Lord}, you will remain faithful to My commandments {entolas: binding directives}.
And I {Iesous, Faithful Intercessor} will ask the Father {Pater, Generous Source}, and He will grant you another advocate, so that He may remain with you throughout the age.
The Spirit {pneuma: personal Presence} of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not see Him {auto: the Spirit Himself} nor know Him. You know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.
I {Iesous, Assuring Presence} will not leave you orphaned {orphanos: without protective care}; I am coming to you.
In a little while, the world {kosmos: unbelieving world} will no longer see Me {Iesous, Risen Lord}, but you will see Me. Since I live, you also will live.
On that day you will know that I {egō, Indwelling Son} am in the Father {patri, Shared Divine Life}, and you are in Me, and I am in you.
The one who has My commandments {entole: covenant directives} and keeps them—that one is the one who loves Me; and the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father {pater, Covenant Father}, and I will love him and make Myself known to him.
Judas, not the Iscariot, says to Him, “Lord {Kurios, Revered Master}, what has happened that You are about to reveal {emphanizein: make fully known} Yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus {Iesous, Covenant Speaker} answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word {logon: obedient response}; and My Father {pater, Abiding Father} will love him, and We will come near to him and make Our dwelling {monen: lasting residence} with him.”
The one who does not love Me {Iesous, Faithful Revealer} does not hold to My words. And the word that you hear is not Mine, but from the Father {Pater, Sending Source} who sent Me.
These things I {Iesous, Present Teacher} have spoken to you while I remain {menon: Ongoing Presence} here beside you.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit {pneuma hagion, Sanctifying Teacher}, whom the Father {pater, Sending Source} will send in My name, He will instruct you in every matter and will bring to your mind all I have said to you.
Peace I am leaving with you; my peace I am giving to you. I am not giving to you in the same way the world {kosmos: worldly order} gives. Let your heart not be unsettled {tarassesthō: lose calm}, nor let it be afraid.
You heard that I {Iesous, Departing Lord} told you, “I am going away, and I am coming to you. If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I am going to the Father {Pater, Supreme Father}, because the Father is greater than I.”
And now I {Iesous, Faithful Foreteller} have spoken to you before it comes about, so that when it comes about, you may believe {pisteusete: trust fully}.
I {Iesous, Parting Teacher} will not speak at length with you any longer, for the ruler {archon: hostile power} of the world is coming, and in Me he has nothing.
But so that the world {kosmos: human realm} may come to realize that I love the Father {pater, Covenant Commander}, and just as the Father commanded Me, so I do. Rise up; let us go from here.
