The command is mainly about outward religious performance

The instruction is about deciding who deserves kindness

Choosing one practical act that seeks another person's good, even if it costs you time or comfort

Waiting until the other person makes the first move

Giving support only when it is easy and noticeable

Protecting your distance until you feel completely safe

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I confess that I have sinned and have not loved others as you call me to. I turn from my sin and from my self-centered ways. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I confess you as my Lord and ask you to make me new, so I can love as you command. Amen.

Receive Jesus and Learn His Love

Lord, revive your Church to obey your loving instruction. Where we have grown cold, divided, proud, or defensive, teach us to love one another with patience, humility, and courage. Make our communities known by the love Jesus gave us to practice, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew Your Church in Mutual Love

Thank God that he does not leave his people without direction. Thank him that his instruction is aimed at real love between believers, not empty religion or self-protection. Give thanks for a command that builds community.

Thank You for a Loving Instruction

When you pray, name one person or group you find difficult, ask God to soften your heart toward them, and ask for one small act of love you can carry out today.

Pray for Help to Love

Father, I bring before you the person I struggle to love. Give me patience, humility, and courage to seek their good instead of protecting my pride, and keep me from withdrawing into self-protection, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Grace for a Hard Relationship

Praise Jesus for being the kind of teacher who gives a command that leads to life together. Worship him for knowing that love between his people matters, and for guiding us toward a community shaped by that love.

Praise Jesus for Leading Us in Love
