The disciples are told to stay in Jesus' love

The disciples must prove themselves first

Jesus' love is unrelated to the Father's love

Returning to him in trust and obedience each day

Waiting until life gets easier before seeking him again

Treating his love as something you must earn by perfect performance

Focusing only on private feelings and ignoring what he says

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, you loved me with a love I do not deserve. I admit that I have sinned and turned away from you. I need your mercy, and I cannot save myself. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and confess you as Lord. Bring me into your love and lead me from this day on. Amen.

Receive the Love of Jesus

Lord, awaken your Church to live in the love the Father has for the Son and the Son has for us. Where we have drifted, draw us back. Where we have grown cold, teach us to remain near you. Make us a people who stay, trust, and obey, and let our life together overflow with your love, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Revive Us to Remain in Your Love

Father, thank you that the love you have for your Son is the pattern of the love Jesus gives to us. Thank you that his love is not distant or reluctant, but real and generous. Help me receive it with gratitude, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank You for the Pattern of Love

Pray by naming one distraction that pulls your attention away from Jesus, ask him to help you remain in his love today, and choose one small act of trust or obedience to follow through on.

Pray to Stay Close

Bring these to God: your tendency to earn what he already gives; your need to rest in being loved; your desire to live each day from Jesus' love instead of striving for it.

Growing in Resting Love

Pray for one person who feels unworthy, distant, or unwanted, that they would know the Father's love shown in Jesus; ask God to make you a steady reminder of that love this week.
