Exegesis

The explanatory clause ou gar lalēsei aph’ heautou {οὐ γὰρ λαλήσει ἀφʼ ἑαυτοῦ | ou gàr la-lé-sei aph he-au-toû} denies self-originating speech, stressing that the Spirit does not speak independently.
