The second hoti {ὅτι | hó-ti} introduces the content of the disciples’ faith, so pisteuomen {πιστεύομεν | pis-teú-o-men} ‘we believe’ leads into the confession that apo theou exelthes {ἀπὸ θεοῦ ἐξῆλθες | apo the-oû ex-êl-thes} ‘You came out from God.’
The preposition apo {ἀπὸ | a-pó} marks source or origin, and the aorist exelthes {ἐξῆλθες | ex-êl-thes} preserves the concrete sense of coming forth rather than reducing the statement to an abstract claim. The verse therefore moves from recognition of Jesus’ exhaustive knowledge to a Christological confession of His divine origin.
