If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and tried to rule my own life. I need your mercy and your saving love. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust you as my Lord and Savior. Even when you were seized and bound, you gave yourself for me. Come into my life, forgive me, and lead me now. Amen.

Receive the One They Bound

Lord, revive your Church to stand with the mistreated and to refuse the coldness of the crowd. Where we have been quick to judge, make us gentle; where we have been silent, make us brave; where we have used power poorly, make us humble and just. Let your people reflect your mercy in a hurting world, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Make Your Church Brave and Tender

Father, be near to anyone who feels trapped, restrained, or handled without care. Bring peace to frightened hearts, protect those who are vulnerable, and restore dignity where shame has been added to pain. Help them know that you see them and have not forgotten them, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Comfort for the Bound

Bring to God any moment you have gone along with a harsh crowd; any pleasure you have taken in control; any time you have treated a person as less than human; any silence when you should have honored dignity.

Repentance for Harshness

Pray by naming one place where power feels heavy around you, ask God for a clear and gentle response, and ask for courage to protect dignity rather than simply follow pressure.

Pray for Wise Courage

Pray for people who are detained, restrained, or under harsh authority; for families who carry the fear of it; for officials to act with restraint and truth; and for mercy to be stronger than abuse.
