The conjunction hoti {ὅτι | ho-ti} introduces a causal clause explaining the Jewish claim to informed worship: he soteria ek ton Ioudaiōn estin {ἡ σωτηρία ἐκ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἐστίν | hē sō-tē-rí-a ek tōn I-ou-dai-ōn es-tín}. Here, the nominative subject he soteria ‘the salvation’ is linked by the copula estin ‘is’ to the prepositional phrase ek ton Ioudaiōn, where ek plus the genitive expresses origin or source.
