The Son does only what he sees the Father doing.

The Son does the same things the Father does.

The Son chooses a different path whenever he wants.

Pause to look for God's leading, then act in step with what he shows

Make your own plan first and ask God to support it afterward

Wait until you feel fully in control before obeying

Copy whatever seems effective around you, even if it is not from God's leading

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and tried to live by my own strength. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my self-directed way, trust you as my Savior, and confess you as my Lord. Lead my life, and make me yours. Amen.

Receive Jesus, the Son

Lord, revive your Church where we have trusted our own plans more than your leading. Teach us to watch what the Father is doing, to follow your way, and to do the same works in humble obedience. Wake us up to live as Jesus lived, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew the Church's Dependence on You

Father, keep me from acting on impulse or pride. Help me notice your work, wait for your leading, and take the next step that fits your will. Shape my choices so they follow you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Show Me What You Are Doing

Begin by thanking God that Jesus does not act independently but perfectly follows the Father's work. Then ask for grace to see where God is leading you and to obey in step with him.

Thank God for the Son's Example

Bring these to God: the places where you insist on doing things your own way; the fear that makes you move ahead without listening; the pride that resists correction; a willingness to yield your plans to the Father.

Turning from Self-Reliance

Pray for: a listening heart, a habit of pausing before you act, courage to obey what God shows you, and a growing desire to do what Jesus does.
