Exegesis

The first clause, Humeis ek ton kato este {Ὑμεῖς ἐκ τῶν κάτω ἐστέ | hu-meîs ek tôn ká-tō es-té}, fronts the pronoun humeis for emphasis and uses the preposition ek with the substantivized adverb kato to denote origin or sphere: “you are from the things below.”
