Exegesis
The verse opens with egō de ou zētō tēn doxan mou {ἐγὼ δὲ οὐ ζητῶ τὴν δόξαν μου | egṓ dè ou zētô tḕn dóxan mou} ‘I, however, do not seek My glory,’ where initial egō {ἐγώ | egṓ} provides emphatic subject focus in contrast to those who accuse Him of self-exaltation.
The postpositive conjunction de {δέ | dé} marks a contrastive turn from the preceding discussion about glory and judgment.
