Offer compassion and listen before trying to explain

Keep your distance until you know the cause

If you would like to receive Jesus, pray this with me: Lord Jesus, I admit that I have sinned and that I need your mercy. I have been quick to judge, slow to love, and blind to my own need for you. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and confess you as my Lord and Savior. Open my eyes, forgive me, and lead me in your light. Amen.

Receive Light and Mercy

Lord, where your people have been quick to blame and slow to care, renew us. Give your Church the mercy to sit with those who suffer, the humility to ask better questions, and the love to meet pain with presence. Make us a people who reflect your compassion in a hurting world, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Renew a Compassionate Church

Father, when I cannot explain suffering, keep me from hard judgments and easy answers. Hold my heart steady, teach me patience, and give me a gentle spirit toward others and toward myself, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

When I Don't Understand

Pray by naming one situation where you are tempted to explain pain too quickly. Ask God to slow your words, soften your heart, and show you one compassionate response before you speak.

Pray Before You Judge

Bring to God any habit of assuming that suffering always points to someone’s fault. Confess the times you have spoken too soon or looked down on hurting people, and ask for humility, mercy, and wiser words.

Turning from Blame

Pray for people living with pain, disability, uncertainty, or fear. Ask God to give them caring companions, patient encouragement, and relief where they need it most, and to keep them from feeling judged or alone.
