Admitting blindness would make their guilt greater

Being quiet would erase the need to repent

If they were blind, guilt would not rest on them

Their guilt is removed because they say they see

Admit your need and ask God to show you what you cannot see

Protect your self-image by speaking with more certainty

Keep comparing yourself with people you think are worse off

Assume confidence is the same as being right

Lord, wake your Church from self-confidence and every hidden blind spot. Give us humble hearts, honest repentance, and love for the truth. Do not let us call ourselves clear-sighted while our sin remains; make us quick to listen, quick to confess, and quick to change, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Father, show me where I am defending myself instead of listening to you. Keep me from hiding behind certainty. Give me the courage to admit what is true and the grace to turn from it, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Bring to God gratitude for truth that exposes and heals; thanks that he does not leave sin hidden when we protect it; praise for mercy that invites honesty; thanksgiving that his correction is meant to restore us.

Name one area where you may be overconfident, ask God to show you the truth there, confess any pride, and ask for the humility to respond plainly.

Pray Through One Blind Spot

Pray for someone who seems certain but may be spiritually blind: that God would soften their defensiveness, uncover what is hidden, and draw them toward repentance and mercy.
