13. Formal Translation And it came to pass, when Joshua was near Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” |
13. Dynamic Translation When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing across from him with a sword drawn in his hand. Joshua approached him and asked, “Are you on our side or on the side of our enemies?” |
