Exegesis

The verse begins with the paired prohibitions lo-ta‘asu {לֹא־תַעֲשׂ֥וּ | lō-ta‘ăšû} ‘you shall not do’ and lo-tisa {לֹא־תִשָּׂ֣א | lō-tišā’} ‘you shall not lift up’, both introduced by the negative particle lo {לֹא | lō}.
