1 And the LORD {YHWH, Covenant Speaker} called to Moses, and He spoke to him from the tent {ohel: sacred enclosure} of meeting, saying:
2 Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, "When a man brings an offering {korban: gift of approach} from among you to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}, from the livestock, from the herd, or from the flock, you shall bring your offering."
3 If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall present a male unblemished {tamim: whole and fit for sacrifice}; he must bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting for his acceptance before the LORD {YHWH, Receiver of Worship}.
4 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the burnt-offering, and it shall be accepted {venirtsah: regarded with favor} for him, to make atonement {lekhapper: covering of guilt} for him.
5 And he shall slaughter the young bull before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}, and the sons of Aaron the priests shall bring near the blood {ha-dam: life-blood} and sprinkle it on the altar all around at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
6 And he shall skin the burnt offering {olah: whole burnt sacrifice}, and he shall cut it {otah: feminine object} into its pieces.
7 And the sons of Aaron the priest {kohēn: appointed mediator} shall put fire upon the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice}, and arrange wood upon the fire.
8 Then the sons of Aaron {benei: family lineage} the priests shall arrange the pieces, the head, and the fat {pader: suet covering} upon the wood that is on the fire, which is on the altar.
9 And its inward parts and its legs he shall wash with water, and the priest shall burn it all on the altar as a burnt offering, a fire offering {isheh: sacrificial portion by fire}, and an aroma of pleasing fragrance to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}.
10 And if his offering is from the flock, whether of sheep or goats, for a burnt offering, he shall offer a male {zakhar: male animal} without blemish {tamim: fit for sacrifice}.
11 He shall slaughter it on the north side of the altar, before the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}; and the sons of Aaron the priests shall splash its blood on and around the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice}.
12 And he shall cut it into its pieces, along with its head and its fat. Then the priest {kohen: ordained minister} shall arrange them on the wood that is on the fire which is on the altar {mizbeach: place of offering}.
13 And he shall wash the entrails and the legs in water, and the priest shall bring the whole and burn it on the altar; it is a burnt offering, a food offering {isheh: fire-offering}, and a pleasing aroma to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Receiver}.
14 And if his offering to the LORD {YHWH, Divine Recipient} is a burnt offering {olah: wholly consumed sacrifice} from the birds, then he shall present his offering from the turtledoves or from the young pigeon.
15 And the priest shall bring it near to the altar, wring {malak: pinch off} off its head, offer it up in smoke on the altar, and its blood shall be drained out on the side {kir: wall surface} of the altar.
16 And he shall remove the crop {mur’ah: gullet} with its feathers and cast it beside the altar {mizbeach: place of sacrifice} on the east side to the place of the ashes.
17 And he shall tear it open by its wings, but he shall not divide it, and the priest shall burn it on the altar on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering {olah: ascent offering}, a fire offering with a pleasing aroma to the LORD {YHWH, Worship Recipient}.
