For forty days He {Iesous, Faithful Tested Son} was being tempted by the devil; He ate nothing during those days, and when those days ended, He grew hungry.
2. Dynamic Translation
He {Iesous, Obedient Suffering Son} endured forty days of testing by the devil, ate nothing the entire time, and when it ended, He was completely famished.
